We are looking for a companion to help a young woman participate in community activities.  Candidates must have a valid driver’s license, a sense of humor, patience, and a willingness to gently encourage a shy person to self-advocate and converse with peers.  Responsibilities include driving to and participating in exercise classes, social skills activities, life skills workshops, and volunteer work at a day care center.

The successful candidate will work directly with the individual’s family and indirectly with Agency staff as necessary to ensure the health and safety of the individual served.  Excellent verbal communication skills are also essential. 

Qualifications: High School Diploma.  Experience in the field of developmental disabilities desirable but not required.  Driving is a fundamental requirement of this position.  A valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation is required.
