The 2017 36th Annual Reds Race for a Better Community is a 5 mile road race and 2.4 mile walking course, open to anyone interested in either running or walking in this annual event. Participants span from the serious runner to recreational joggers enjoying a challenging, yet beautiful running course, to families and community members of all ages and sizes walking the 2.4 mile walking route.
Several years ago, Red’s Shoe Barn turned the planning and execution of this race over to Strafford County non-profit organizations to transform this race into a fundraiser to benefit and strengthen the community. The intent is for all participants to take part in an historic community event while raising much-needed funds for local non-profit organizations like Community Partners that provide important services in Strafford County.
Proceeds from the annual race benefit local non-profit organizations and the community members they serve, including the Dover Adult Learning Center, Dover Housing Authority, Community Partners, Community Action Partnership of Strafford County, Dover’s Woodman Park School, and the Monarch School of New England.
